Being Single Sucks
Being single sucks. Especially when the only certainties in life are death and constant change, resulting in mental and emotional din from our daily battle with anxiety. What if Plan A, B, or C doesn’t work out? Should I be doing X, Y, or Z? …questions particularly jarring in the turbulent 20s. Having a boyfriend, girlfriend, partner, a travel companion to trudge alongside us through the sludge of insecurity makes the journey more bearable, a presence of reassurance. We in turn pat their backs, quelling their qualms as well. But what happens when F O RE VER crumbles to OVER, when your soul’s second half chooses a different path and you’re left standing alone in shit? Eventually we scrap ourselves together and push onward. In newfound solitude we discern a voice that murmurs, “You got this.” “You’re going to be just fine,” egging us onward.
